Pre-Setup
- Check memory, swap and temp space on your server
- Confirm that system requirements to your database are met
- Verify that your database can be run under current OS version and patch levels
- Verify package requirements
- Verify kernel parameters
- Apply server security patches if required
Setup
- Use custom database system to create a new database. For example, if you use CentriQS software you can create your database with help of Configurator
- Add necessary components (tables, objects, properties, relationships, etc.) to your database
- Add database mount points
- Set database user environment
- Create database user groups and user accounts
- Apply database updates and upgrades if needed
Post-Setup
- Verify database existence
- Process database files
- Verify database global name
- Verify database passwords for user accounts
- Generate a file for logging database schema
- Verify that MAXSIZE parameter is set for all tablespaces within the database
- Consider creating a system table for generating schema level statistics
- Check whether SQL scripts run successfully
Network Configuration
- Verify that database configuration files exist in the network
- Protect database configuration files with password
- Check network parameters and log file locations
- Configure local database connections
- Move SQL files to admin directory in the network.
