Project Launch Process:

  • Compose plan to check if everything is on the place, this checklist can be taken as a basis for composing your specific agenda to be communicated to the project stakeholders and team members;
  • Ensure that you have comprehensive and verified Project Scope statement, which can comprise the following elements (see the full Project Scope checklist):
    • The project business case (problems to resolve and backgrounds);
    • The project owner, sponsors, and stakeholders;
    • Description of project’s outcomes, objectives, or deliverables;
    • Product Breakdown Structure (PBS);
    • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS);
    • Estimate of Resources required;
    • Project Timeframes;
    • Project Assumptions and Risks;
  • Make sure you have well-constructed Project Schedule including the determined critical path comprising the major tasks and milestones (see the Project Schedule checklist for more details);
  • Ensure that you have well-constructed Project Financial Plan (effective project budgeting, funding, and well-calculated plan of expected project costs & revenues);
  • Make sure that you have effective Project Quality Plan (effective quality requirements for outputs and business processes, methods and tools for ongoing quality assurance and control);
  • Ensure that you have effective Project Staffing documented in appropriate documents (well-described roles and responsibilities, clear interrelations between them, right persons assigned to right positions);
  • Make sure that you have all Project Controls in place (effective Project Office and services are established, all essential administrative procedures are clearly documented and well-regulated, etc);
  • Ensure that all the technical and business documents are complete, correct, and ready for work (specifications, manuals, templates, logs, request forms, etc); 
  • Make sure that consolidated Project Work Plan is ready (so that your project is properly divided into meaningful phases, milestones and tasks with clear sign-off points, incorporating HR, resources, budget, time, etc);
  • Ensure that all components of the project’s tangible infrastructure are ready and fully operational (all equipments, vehicles, storages, premises and other objects are ready, raw materials are in place or appropriately contracted);
  • Ensure that all components of IT-infrastructure are ready and fully operational (all computer-based means, networks, software, and telecommunications are working well);
  • Ensure that all legal issues are resolved, and all necessary contracts are signed and working;
  • Organize the meeting to introduce the project team and stakeholders to each other (send individual invitations to everyone concerned);
  • Meeting agenda may include the following points:
    • Welcome introduction;
    • Introduction of the lecturer, project manger and the key attendees;
    • Explanation of the Project Background;
    • Outlining the Project Goals and Objectives;
    • Representing the Project Organization and Project Schedule;
