  1. Alignment.
    • Review the plan of your project to make sure this document specifies activities that are aligned with strategic expectations and needs of the key stakeholders (sponsor and customer).
    • Check the specification of your project deliverables for alignment with user requirements.
    • Examine the staffing plan to be sure all necessary human resources are acquired, available and ready for project work.
    • Evaluate the budget against the cost baseline to define whether the project is provided with sufficient financial resources and whether all actual expenses are counted and covered by the budget.

  3. Measurability.
    • Evaluate project activities and processes for measurability (for every process or activity there should be a set of performance measures).
    • Review the overall system of process measures of your project for reliability and accuracy.
    • Request the customer of your project for confirmation that this stakeholder can access the system for project review.
    • Schedule regular meetings that aim to check project status and review measure resource compliance and strategic alignment.
    • Be sure that deliverable acceptance criteria are set and approved so you know how to measure produced deliverables against customer requirements.
  4. Flexibility.
    • Be sure the project is flexible – it means that the project should be able to make desired changes in a timely manner, regardless of what happens within the project environment.
    • Review project goals to determine whether they address the problem defined by the business case.
    • Be sure there’s a contingency plan that specifies action items for addressing exceptions and special non-standard requirements.
